The Nest Learning Thermostat is a smart thermostat developed by Google Nest that uses machine learning to automatically control your home's heating and cooling systems. First introduced in 2011, this thermostat is renowned for its ability to learn from your daily habits and temperature preferences at different times of the day. Over the first few days or weeks of use, the Nest Learning Thermostat analyzes when and to what temperature you make adjustments, and then gradually builds an automatic schedule. It also uses motion sensors and phone location data (with your permission) to determine if you are home, automatically switching to an energy-saving "Away" mode (Auto-Away) when the house is empty. The Adaptive Eco feature further optimizes energy savings by taking into account outdoor weather data and your home's characteristics. The thermostat can show you a "Leaf" icon on the display, which appears when you select a temperature that helps save energy, and this icon also adapts over time, learning what temperatures are energy-saving specifically for your home. You can control the thermostat remotely via the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet, view your energy usage history, and receive notifications, such as reminders to change the air filter or alerts about potential issues with your HVAC system. The Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with most HVAC systems and supports integration with other Google Nest devices, as well as a growing number of products compatible with the Matter standard and "Works with Hey Google".
