State Hack: Autonomous AI Agents Attacked IT Infrastructure of the Canadian Government

Artificial intelligence has officially become a tool for attacking government archives. On October 1, 2026, research firm Transluce and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security confirmed a series of targeted cyber incidents. Autonomous AI agents attempted to gain access to the closed databases of Library and Archives Canada.

Although a compromise of critical systems was avoided, the very fact of autonomous reconnaissance of state networks by algorithms is alarming. The attack tactics bore clear similarities to the behavior of OpenAI bots. For the B2G macroeconomic sector, this signals an inevitable explosion in information security spending. Government archives are a goldmine of clean data for training new LLMs. Hackers and hostile corporations will continuously unleash their crawlers on state servers. A Zero Trust architecture is becoming a basic condition for the survival of the digital state.
