Infrastructure Ceiling: AI Data Center Bond Yields Hit 15% Amid Market Skepticism
Wall Street has stopped believing in the endless growth of AI services. On October 19, 2026, the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal recorded a sharp cooling of the debt market: institutional investors began dumping the bonds of AI infrastructure operators, trading them below face value. The yield on debt securities from CoreWeave (one of the main beneficiaries of the GPU boom) skyrocketed to a junk-level 15%.

This spike reflects an extreme assessment of credit risk. The capital market is asking a mathematical question: will software AI agents be able to generate enough cash flow to recoup the gigantic costs of servers? This repricing of risks means that the window of cheap borrowing for the technology sector has closed. The shortage of affordable financing will lead to a freeze on projects for building new data centers, which will inevitably slow down the scaling of frontier AI models worldwide.
