Amazon in Talks to Invest Over $10 Billion in OpenAI
Technology giant Amazon is in substantive talks to invest more than $10 billion in OpenAI, in what could become one of the largest deals in the history of the artificial intelligence industry. According to Reuters and the Financial Times, this partnership goes beyond a simple financial injection. A key condition of the deal is for OpenAI to use Amazons Trainium chips to train its models, as well as expanding its use of AWS cloud infrastructure. This move is seen as an attempt by Amazon to close the gap with Microsoft in the race for dominance in the generative AI market.

For OpenAI, such a deal means diversifying computing resources and reducing its exclusive reliance on Microsoft Azure. Integration with the Amazon ecosystem will give OpenAI access to colossal power and specialized hardware optimized for AI. Analysts believe that Amazons entry as a key investor in OpenAI could trigger new antitrust scrutiny, but at the same time, it would create a powerful counterweight to established alliances in Silicon Valley, accelerating the development of next-generation models.
