Taalas’s technology solves the main problem of modern data centers: monstrous energy consumption when reading data from memory. The startup proposes physically embedding (hardwiring) the weights of a trained neural network directly into the chip’s structure. This strips the processor of its universality (one chip equals one specific model) but makes inference dozens of times faster and cheaper. For the B2B market, this M&A maneuver signals the emergence of a new class of equipment: corporations will order batches of LLMs "frozen" in silicon to perform narrow tasks without the need to rent NVIDIA cloud capacity.
