Synthetic Elections: Claude Neural Network Used for Political Subversion in Malaysia
The cost of conducting psychological operations (PSYOP) has dropped to the price of an API token. On October 1, 2026, The Guardian confirmed the details of an Anthropic report: malicious actors used the Claude generative model to coordinate a massive influence operation in Malaysia.

The automated campaign utilized 1,000 fake accounts on the X network and synthetic media, precisely targeting content across all 222 parliamentary districts based on demographic data. For the media market's macroeconomics, this is a Rubicon: propaganda has been completely transitioned to algorithmic tracks. Although Anthropic blocked the hackers' access, the precedent has been set. Elections are no longer won by political technologists; they are won by prompt engineers. Social networks will have to invest billions of dollars (CAPEX) in hardware solutions to block AI traffic, otherwise, the political landscape of entire nations will be controlled from anonymous cloud servers.
