Anthropic Cowork: AI Agents Go Beyond IT

On January 25, 2026, Anthropic introduced Cowork, a new AI agent targeted at non-programming white-collar workers. The tool can autonomously manage files, browsers, and office applications, performing routine tasks via simple text requests.

This is a step towards the democratization of agent systems. Whereas automation previously required Python scripts, Cowork now allows any manager to "hire" a digital assistant. The product directly competes with OpenAI Operator solutions, betting on safety and agent action transparency.
