Apple to Use Google Gemini Model for Major Siri Update

Apple Inc. is close to finalizing a landmark deal with Alphabet Inc. (Google) to license its AI model. As reported by Bloomberg on November 5, 2025 (and echoed by Reuters and TechCrunch), Apple will pay Google approximately $1 billion per year for access to the 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini model. This model will be used to drastically improve the Siri assistant, particularly for complex tasks like planning and summarization. Notably, Gemini will run on Apples secure Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, while Apples own, less complex models will still handle some on-device Siri functions.
