Computing Decentralization: ASUS Moves AI from the Cloud to Consumer Hardware
The architecture of working with neural networks is undergoing fundamental changes. On May 26, 2026, Taiwanese vendor ASUS officially announced a focus on next-generation technologies (Edge AI) for the consumer market ahead of the Computex 2026 exhibition.

This announcement reflects the solution to one of the industry's main macroeconomic problems. Constantly sending prompts to cloud data centers is becoming too expensive due to a shortage of servers and network bandwidth. Hardware manufacturers are changing the vector: AI agents must run locally, directly on the processors of the user's laptops and smartphones (on-device processing). ASUS's move means that hardware-accelerated neural networks are no longer the prerogative of the corporate sector but a basic requirement (commodity) for any consumer device. The era of autonomous Edge AI has begun.
