AWS to Launch AI Agent Marketplace, Entering a New Phase of Competition

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the worlds largest cloud provider, is preparing to take a key step in the race for dominance in the enterprise AI market. On July 12, 2025, as reported by leading tech publications including TechCrunch and PYMNTS, it was revealed that the company plans to officially launch its own AI Agent Marketplace. The official announcement is expected at the upcoming AWS Summit in New York on July 15. This move is a strategic response to the actions of competitors like Microsoft and Google, who are actively developing their own integrated AI assistants. Instead of creating a single monolithic assistant, AWS is betting on building an open ecosystem, analogous to its highly successful AWS Marketplace for software. The new marketplace will allow third-party developers, consulting firms, and IT companies to create and sell specialized AI agents designed for specific business functions. For example, businesses will be able to purchase ready-made agents for automating customer support, analyzing financial reports, managing marketing campaigns, or optimizing supply chains. Anthropic is reported to be one of the key launch partners, allowing developers to easily create and distribute agents based on the Claude models. For enterprise customers, this will significantly simplify and accelerate the adoption of agentic AI, as they will not have to develop complex systems from scratch. For AWS, this is a way to solidify its position as the fundamental platform on which the entire AI agent economy will be built.
