On August 14, 2025, in Macau at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the China-Macao-Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Translational Medicine Center was officially inaugurated — the first collaborative center uniting Shanghai and Macau in AI-driven translational medicine. Initiated by the university’s foundation, the Macau Translational Medicine Center, the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, and the Global Alliance on AI for Industry and Manufacturing Center of Excellence. Operating across both cities, the center aims to strengthen technological coordination and accelerate the translation of AI research into clinical applications. Officials noted that this “dual-center” mechanism leverages Shanghai’s innovation ecosystem and Macau’s strategic position—including as a gateway to Portuguese-speaking nations. Plans include standardizing protocols for Traditional Chinese Medicine, expanding international cooperation, enabling data-sharing, integrating diagnostic AI algorithms, and fostering academic collaboration across the Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia.
