Diesel for Clouds: Germany’s Deutz to Triple Revenue on AI Server Generators

Diesel for Clouds: Germany’s Deutz to Triple Revenue on AI Server Generators
The most ironic macroeconomic trend of the year: the high-tech revolution is fueled by diesel. On July 3, 2026, the German manufacturer of classic engines, DEUTZ AG, stunned investors with a bold forecast. The company expects the revenue of its energy division to triple (to €1 billion) over the next five years.

The reason for this heavy industry renaissance is artificial intelligence. The mega data centers being built worldwide to train LLMs (the gigawatt shortage for which was discussed at the G7) require colossal and, crucially, absolutely uninterrupted power capacities. No UN "green" standards can save the day during systemic grid blackouts. To prevent hyperscalers from losing millions of dollars during power outages to tensor clusters, they require thousands of industrial generators (backup power). The irony of AGI is that the superprofits from neural networks are ultimately collected by internal combustion engine manufacturers.
