Experian 2026: Agentic AI and Deepfake Employees are Top Threats
Experian's annual fraud forecast, released on January 13, 2026, highlights two new attack vectors: Agentic AI and deepfake candidates. Analysts warn that criminals have begun using autonomous agents to automate complex social engineering schemes that previously required manual labor.

Of particular concern is the trend of infiltrating "synthetic identities" into corporations. Fraudsters use real-time video deepfakes to pass online interviews, get hired for remote jobs, and gain access to corporate data. For security teams, this necessitates a total overhaul of verification procedures (KYC/KYE), as distinguishing a human from a digital copy on a screen is becoming nearly impossible.
