On February 9, 2026, G42 (UAE) and a consortium of Vietnamese companies (FPT, Viet Thai) signed an agreement to create sovereign AI infrastructure. Investments will total ~$1 billion. The goal is to deploy data centers in Vietnam so that regional data does not leak to the US or China.
Vietnam is becoming a key node in Southeast Asia's digital map. For G42, this is a way to expand influence, and for Vietnam, a guarantee that the "brains" of national AI will be kept at home.
