Fight Fire with Fire: OpenAI Launches AI Detectors to Combat Scams

On March 12, 2026, the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), in partnership with OpenAI, launched the Scam.org portal. This is an infrastructural response to the epidemic of deepfakes and voice phishing that Reuters reported on earlier this week.

The platform operates on the "Anti-AI" principle. Developers of generative models (OpenAI) provide access to their internal classifiers and reverse engineering algorithms. The system analyzes suspicious texts, calls, and videos in over 50 languages, identifying machine generation patterns. This is the industry's attempt to self-regulate and halt the decline of trust in digital content. The arms race between scammers using open-source models and corporate AI detectors is entering an active phase.
