Cell: GigaTIME Creates Virtual Cancer Map

The January 22, 2026 issue of Cell published the GigaTIME study. It is a multimodal AI framework capable of generating virtual tumor microenvironment (mIF) models based on standard histological slides (H&E).

The technology solves the cost and scale problem in oncology. Instead of expensive lab tests, GigaTIME uses deep learning algorithms to "inpainting" invisible immune system markers onto ordinary slides. This allows doctors to analyze tumor-immune interactions at a population level (tens of thousands of patients) with unprecedented speed.
