Dumping for Reach: Google Slashes AI Ultra Plan Price to $200
The battle to retain corporate users is entering a phase of aggressive price wars. On May 20, 2026 (as part of the I/O announcements), Google announced a radical reduction in the cost of its top-tier AI Ultra plan to $200, and also introduced a new intermediate $100 plan.

This commercial maneuver is designed to pull the rug out from under direct competitors—OpenAI and Anthropic. While Anthropic spends $1.25 billion a month on SpaceX computing power, Google uses its virtually limitless infrastructure resources to subsidize the final cost of AI for developers and B2B clients. Dumping in the top-tier model segment means that access to agents and complex API scenarios is rapidly becoming commoditized (turning into a cheap mass commodity). Whoever offers the best balance between price and context window quality will capture the lion's share of the SaaS integration market.
