Googles research division announced the development of a new quantum algorithm, "Quantum Echoes," on October 22, 2025. According to Reuters, when executed on the companys latest "Willow" quantum chip, the algorithm demonstrated a speedup of approximately 13,000 times compared to the most powerful classical supercomputers solving the same task. Importantly, the algorithms results can be verified on a classical computer, which addresses some of the skepticism surrounding previous claims of "quantum supremacy." This algorithm allows for the simulation of complex quantum phenomena, opening up new possibilities in materials science and drug discovery.
