Google Education: New Protection Against Deepfakes and Ransomware

On January 21, 2026, Google introduced a security update package for educational institutions. AI-powered tools for automatically detecting generated images (deepfakes) and blocking ransomware attacks have been added to Google Workspace for Education.

The update gives school administrators granular control over which AI tools are available to students.
