Pandora’s Box: Google Records First AI-Written 0-Day Exploit
Theoretical threats have become proven reality. On May 17, 2026 (following a report from May 11), the Google Threat Intelligence Group officially reported the first recorded instance of artificial intelligence being used to create a zero-day exploit in the wild.

Attackers used a generative model to analyze complex corporate code and write a working exploit before developers could issue a patch. This event radically changes the cybersecurity landscape and fully validates the recent panic among financial regulators (ECB, ASIC, SEBI) and the "Five Eyes" alliance. AI agents capable of autonomously finding infrastructure breaches lower the barrier to entry for hackers to virtually zero. Traditional defense methods (SIEM, firewalls) are powerless against machines that generate attack vectors faster than antivirus databases can update. The industry will have to shift to counter-algorithmic defense.
