Hardware Substitution: ByteDance and Alibaba Switch to Huawei AI Chips
US sanctions have accelerated the independence of Chinese silicon. On March 27, 2026, it was revealed that Huawei's newest AI accelerator, the Ascend 950PR (supplied in Atlas 350 clusters), successfully passed internal tests at major Chinese tech giants.

ByteDance (owner of TikTok) and Alibaba are preparing to place massive orders, replacing unavailable solutions from NVIDIA. This is a critical marker: Huawei's local architecture has reached a performance level sufficient for the inference and training of heavy recommendation algorithms and LLMs on an industrial scale. Asia's dependence on Western hardware vendors is declining at a record pace, forming a parallel microelectronics market.
