Hyundai and Boston Dynamics to Debut New Atlas Humanoid at CES 2026
Hyundai Motor Group officially confirmed on December 22, 2025, its plans to unveil an updated AI robotics strategy. The highlight of the upcoming CES 2026 will be the public debut of the next-generation, fully electric Atlas humanoid robot from its subsidiary, Boston Dynamics. Unlike previous hydraulic versions, the new Atlas is designed for mass production and operation in real industrial environments, featuring unprecedented mobility and strength that surpasses human capabilities.

Hyundai's strategy aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem where robots are integrated into logistics chains and automotive production lines. The shift to electric actuators has made Atlas more compact, quieter, and more energy-efficient, crucial factors for commercialization. Experts believe the CES demonstration will signal Boston Dynamics' readiness to compete directly with Tesla's Optimus and other humanoids in the service and industrial robotics market. Hyundai plans to use Atlas as the foundation for its "smart factories" of the future.
