India is actively positioning itself as a global leader in the emerging artificial intelligence ecosystem. As reported by Morung Express on October 26, 2025, the country is leveraging its chairmanship of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) to advance its agenda. Simultaneously, preparations are underway to host the large-scale AI Impact Summit in 2026. A key element of the strategy is the development of a regulatory framework: the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is actively working on updating rules to ensure transparency in generative AI and to combat synthetic content (deepfakes), aiming to create a safe and accountable AI environment on the global stage.
