Sovereign Censorship: Indian Government Summons Meta Leadership Over AI Content Risks
Pressure on Big Tech is scaling beyond Western economies. On August 4, 2026, it was revealed that the Indian government officially summoned Meta’s global team for hearings on August 5-6. At the center of the political scandal is the corporation's inability to moderate generative AI content.

This is a classic clash between global technology platforms and sovereign national interests. India, possessing one of the largest B2C markets in the world, refuses to accept that Meta’s algorithms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) are becoming an uncontrolled tool for political manipulation. Summoning corporate leadership to New Delhi means Asian markets are ready to implement harsh measures (up to blockades) for failures in deepfake filtering. Responsibility for content generation is definitively shifting from users to the shoulders of IT giants, increasing their operational costs for manual and algorithmic moderation.
