Fight for Survival: Intel Urgently Raises $20B to Develop AI Infrastructure
The American chipmaker is trying to stay in the frontier computing race. On August 11, 2026, Intel Corporation successfully raised $20 billion through a share sale at a 6.5% discount.

Tellingly, the order book exceeded $100 billion. This proves the colossal appetite of global investors for any players in the hardware supply chain that are alternatives to TSMC. Amid geopolitical threats in Asia, Wall Street is ready to sponsor American foundries, even if they are technologically lagging behind market leaders. These $20 billion will be immediately burned in the CAPEX furnace for the modernization of lithography lines. For Intel, this is a critical survival maneuver: without rapidly expanding AI chip production capacities, the company risks permanently losing its status as a macroeconomic heavyweight.
