Nationalization of AI: Japan and NVIDIA Launch the World’s First State Computing Infrastructure
The era of wild corporate capitalism in cloud computing is coming to an end. On July 16, 2026, the Japanese government (METI), in partnership with NVIDIA and the Noetra consortium, announced the launch of the world’s first national artificial intelligence infrastructure. The core of the project will be the advanced `Vera Rubin AI factory`.

This move fundamentally changes the balance of power on the macroeconomic map. Tokyo is elevating the provision of computing power from a B2B service to the rank of basic state infrastructure (on par with power grids and roads). Instead of renting servers from American hyperscalers, Japan is building a sovereign loop. The main focus of the infrastructure is to support Physical AI. The state will provide national factories with guaranteed and secure access to tensor computing, protecting critical industrial data from leaking to foreign data centers.
