LSEG and Microsoft Transform Access to AI-Ready Financial Data

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and Microsoft announced a new phase of their strategic partnership on October 12, 2025, aimed at integrating financial data into agentic AI workflows. The companies introduced an open standard, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables AI agents like Microsoft 365 Copilot to securely and efficiently use LSEGs licensed data. Instead of AI agents searching the open internet for information, which can lead to errors and outdated data, the MCP protocol allows their queries to be "grounded" in high-quality, verified, and up-to-date datasets from LSEG. This will allow financial analysts and other enterprise users to receive accurate answers, charts, and analytics based on reliable sources directly within their familiar Microsoft 365 applications. The initiative aims to solve the problem of data reliability in enterprise AI systems.
