Meta Acquires Manus for $3 Billion to Build Agentic AI
Meta Platforms confirmed the acquisition of AI startup Manus, specializing in autonomous agent systems, on December 29–30, 2025. Insider sources tell Reuters the deal is valued between $2 and $3 billion. Manus, originally founded in China and later relocated to Singapore, is known for algorithms capable of executing complex multi-step tasks without human intervention. For Mark Zuckerberg, this is a strategic reinforcement: Manus technologies will be integrated into the Meta AI ecosystem to empower digital assistants to not just generate text, but perform real-world actions (bookings, purchases, software control).

The deal highlights the main trend of the approaching 2026—the shift from Large Language Models (LLMs) to Large Action Models (LAMs). Analysts note that Meta aims to outpace OpenAI and Google in the race to create the first mass-market "superagent" for consumers. The acquisition also addresses talent shortages: along with the technology, a team of world-class engineers specializing in reinforcement learning is joining Meta.
