Ideological Ram: Meta Rolls Out Open Glimmer Model and 6,500-Word Manifesto

Meta continues to aggressively torpedo competitors' closed business models. On August 11, 2026, Mark Zuckerberg introduced the new `Muse Glimmer` open-weight architecture, accompanying the release with a 6,500-word manifesto on "personal superintelligence."

Despite specialized media (The Verge) calling Zuckerberg's vision "empty," dry macroeconomic facts suggest otherwise. By giving away powerful models for free, Meta is deliberately destroying the unit economics of OpenAI and Anthropic. B2B corporations no longer have a reason to buy expensive licenses for closed APIs if they can download Glimmer and deploy it on their local on-premise servers. The open-source ideology is merely a tool: Zuckerberg is forging an ecosystem where dependence on Meta's standards becomes total for the entire IT world.
