5 gigawatts is a capacity comparable to the energy consumption of a major metropolis. Mark Zuckerberg is making it clear to the market: training next-generation frontier models requires physical resources unavailable to ordinary companies. While Meta announced the launch of its own MTIA AI chips just days ago (July 9), it is now building an energy monster for them. The company’s strategy is highly pragmatic: vertical integration from silicon to power plants. Whoever controls the largest and cheapest megawatts will ultimately win the race for AGI.
