Meta Bets on Nuclear: 6.6 GW for AI Clusters
On January 10, 2026, Meta announced the signing of a suite of agreements with energy companies TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra. The deals involve the supply of up to 6.6 GW of nuclear energy to power future data centers, including the "Prometheus" supercluster.

The deal is unique in its structure: it includes purchasing capacity from existing Vistra nuclear plants as well as investments in promising Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) from TerraPower and Oklo. This move solves the main problem of training giant models—the need for stable, 24/7 "baseload power" that renewable sources cannot provide without massive batteries. Meta is effectively becoming a catalyst for the nuclear energy renaissance in the US.
