Meta Superintelligence Labs: First Models Delivered

On January 21, 2026, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth confirmed that the new research division, Meta Superintelligence Labs, has delivered its first working AI models. Just 6 months after formation, the lab demonstrated architectures that, according to internal tests, significantly outperform the current Llama generation.

The creation of Superintelligence Labs was a response to criticism of Meta lagging in the AGI race. The success of the internal presentation means Zuckerberg's company possesses the computing power and talent to compete with OpenAI o3 and Google Gemini Ultra in the "superintelligence" field, not just in the open weights segment.
