Students and Algorithms: Microsoft Deploys AI Tutors in Hong Kong
The solution to the IT talent shortage is shifting to the academic level. On April 16, 2026, Microsoft announced the large-scale implementation of AI tools at the Vocational Training Council (VTC) in Hong Kong.

The project covers about 18,000 students and includes more than 220 training modules integrating AI-based virtual assistants. This is a continuation of the software giant's Asian strategy (a week ago we recorded the launch of the MPowerHer HR initiative in Singapore). Businesses are no longer waiting for universities to rewrite their curricula. By embedding its generative AI algorithms directly into VTC's learning process, Microsoft is forming a loyal pool of "future-ready" talent that will enter the labor market already deeply tied to the Redmond ecosystem.
