European Outpost: Nebius Builds 310 MW AI Factory in Finland
The computing power deficit in Europe is getting a massive response. On March 31, 2026, Nebius announced plans to build a giant AI cluster in the Finnish city of Lappeenranta. The facility's design capacity will be 310 MW, with total investments exceeding $10 billion.

This is not just another data center, but a specialized "AI factory" architecturally tailored for clusters training ultra-large language models (LLMs) and autonomous agent inference. The choice of Finland is strategically calculated: the cold climate radically reduces cooling costs (PUE), and access to renewable energy solves the climate issues that are currently causing attempts to freeze the construction of such facilities in the US. Nebius is aggressively challenging hyperscalers by forging sovereign AI infrastructure on the European continent.
