NVIDIA Unveils Vera Rubin Platform and Alpamayo Models for Physical AI
At the key CES keynote on January 5–6, 2026, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced the next-generation computing platform—Vera Rubin. This is not just a chip, but an integrated rack-scale system designed for extreme computational density tasks. Paired with the hardware, the Alpamayo family of open reasoning models was unveiled, specifically optimized for controlling physical agents—from industrial manipulators to autonomous transport.

The Rubin architecture promises a manifold reduction in token cost and improved energy efficiency compared to the Blackwell generation. However, the main focus is on specialization: Alpamayo models are trained to understand real-world physics, addressing the "hallucination" problem in robotics. Experts call this announcement the de facto declaration of the Physical AI era, where computing power translates into precise spatial movement.
