Long-Term Recruitment: OpenAI Launches Campus Network Student Initiative
Soft power is becoming the main weapon in the battle for AI market share. On May 11, 2026, OpenAI officially announced the `Campus Network`—a program to engage student IT clubs in the company's ecosystem.

This is an elegant and symmetrical response to Google.org's recent decision to allocate $10 million for AI education in Asia. Against the backdrop of falling margins and missed revenue KPIs, Sam Altman is investing in the future. By providing universities with early access, free API credits, and training materials, OpenAI is building loyalty among the next generation of engineers. In 3-5 years, these students will become Team Leads and CTOs in large corporations, and they will default to choosing (and buying) the tools they grew up on. Vendor lock-in begins in the classroom.
