The delay of the year’s major technological release has come to an end. On July 8, 2026, OpenAI began the public rollout of the highly anticipated GPT-5.6 model family (including the Sol, Terra, and Luna configurations). According to Reuters, this launch was only possible after official coordination with US authorities.

This case clearly demonstrates the new rules of the game in the frontier model market.
