OpenAI: GPT-5 Will Be a Unified System of Several Models

OpenAI lifted the veil on the architecture of its next, long-awaited flagship model, tentatively named GPT-5, on July 7, 2025. As reported by leading tech publications like BleepingComputer and WindowsCentral, citing sources close to the companys leadership, the new model will not be monolithic but will instead be a unified system that integrates the capabilities of several highly specialized AI models. This announcement confirms that OpenAI is placing its main bet on a more advanced and complex implementation of the architecture known as Mixture of Experts (MoE). The essence of this approach is that instead of one giant generalist model that must do everything, a complex system is created from several more compact expert models. Each of these models is perfectly trained to perform specific types of tasks: for example, one for writing and debugging software code, another for creative writing and script generation, and a third for complex logical reasoning and data analysis. A special intelligent router within the system will analyze the users query in real-time and direct it to the most appropriate expert or combination of experts to generate the most accurate and relevant response. This approach has two key advantages. Firstly, it significantly increases the overall efficiency of the system, as only a small part of the total system is activated to execute a specific query, which saves enormous computational resources. Secondly, it allows for higher quality in each specific area due to the deep specialization of the expert models. This strategic announcement from the industry leader shows that the future of large language models lies not just in increasing trillions of parameters, but in creating smarter, more efficient, and modular architectures.
