OpenAI & Tata: 100MW for a Start

On February 19, 2026, OpenAI became the first customer of Tata Group's HyperVault division. The agreement involves leasing 100 MW of data center capacity in India, scalable to 1 GW.

The deal is strategic. India demands data localization, and OpenAI is forced to build physical infrastructure within the country to serve its 100 million Indian users. Tata provides the hardware, OpenAI provides the software. A classic symbiosis.
