OpenAI Updates AI Agent Creation Tools, Releases TypeScript SDK

Following the global trend towards agentic AI, OpenAI released a major update to its developer tools on June 14, 2025, aimed at simplifying and expanding the capabilities for creating full-featured AI agents. This release is another confirmation of the industrys mass transition from the simple chatbot paradigm to the development of more complex and autonomous systems capable of performing multi-step tasks. A key element of the update is the release of the long-awaited official SDK (Software Development Kit) for the TypeScript language. This is a strategically important event as it opens the door for the vast community of web developers using JavaScript and TypeScript, allowing them to easily and natively integrate OpenAI powerful agentic capabilities into their web applications and Node.js-based server solutions. Previously, the companys main focus was on Python, which was convenient for data scientists but created certain barriers for web integration. In addition, the updated tools significantly simplify the creation of multimodal agents capable of interacting with users not just through text, but also through voice. New libraries and improved APIs facilitate the processing of voice input and the generation of realistic voice output, enabling the creation of more natural and user-friendly assistants. This significantly expands the application scope of OpenAI agents far beyond text-based interfaces, opening up new possibilities for their use in smart devices, interactive customer service systems, and applications for people with disabilities. This release, in step with similar moves from competitors like Microsoft with their AutoGen framework, demonstrates that the future of AI applications lies with complex, multimodal, and autonomous agents.
