Hallucinations on Air: Reuters Reports Surge in Political Deepfakes
On March 9, 2026, the Reuters Fact Check department released a report uncovering a massive wave of generated disinformation. Generative networks are being used to create fake footage of political leaders (including Ali Khamenei) and forge videos from conflict zones.

Image generation has become so cheap that tools for psychological operations (PSYOPs) are now available to any teenager with a GPU. The technical problem is that AI content detectors still lag behind generators (Midjourney, Sora, Stable Diffusion). Generator models are evolving exponentially, while verification tools are evolving linearly, requiring constant manual retraining on new neural network "compression" artifacts. Trust in digital media is dropping to absolute zero.
