Grey Silicon: New Charges in Singapore AI Chip Smuggling Case
The logistical loopholes of US export controls continue to be closed through criminal cases. On April 2, Singapore prosecutors filed new charges against individuals involved in a massive AI fraud case.

The investigation concerns grey supply schemes: server equipment from Dell and Super Micro, equipped with sanctioned NVIDIA AI accelerators, was supplied through Singaporean shell companies to end customers, bypassing the embargo (as we saw with Chinese universities on March 27). The financial and logistical hubs of Southeast Asia are under unprecedented pressure from Washington. Singaporean authorities are demonstrating zero tolerance for illegal hardware transit, trying to maintain the status of a "white" jurisdiction for Western Big Tech (which is critical given Microsoft's recent $5.5 billion investment).
