SoftBank and Oracle Partner to Advance AI and "Sovereign Cloud" in Japan

Japanese tech giant SoftBank and U.S. corporation Oracle announced a strategic partnership on October 9, 2025. Its goal is to create and provide "sovereign cloud" services with integrated AI capabilities in Japan. SoftBank will use the Oracle Alloy platform to deploy the full range of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services within its own data centers located in Japan. This ensures that all customer data is stored and processed within the country, in full compliance with Japanese data protection laws. This solution is primarily aimed at government organizations and companies in highly regulated industries, such as finance and healthcare, which were previously unable to use public clouds due to data sovereignty requirements. The partnership will accelerate the adoption of AI in these sectors by giving them access to advanced technologies in a secure and compliant environment.
