Stanford Launches Echo Labs AI Service for Automatic Video Captioning

Stanford Universitys Office of Digital Accessibility announced on September 11, 2025, a partnership agreement with Echo Labs. As part of this collaboration, the university is implementing a new AI platform for the automatic creation of captions and audio descriptions for all educational video content. The Echo Labs service, designed specifically for higher education, uses AI for fast and highly accurate transcription of lectures, seminars, and other course materials, promising a 24-hour turnaround time. The platform will be integrated with the universitys main academic systems, such as Canvas, making it easier for faculty and staff to ensure content accessibility. This initiative is part of Stanfords broader strategy to create an inclusive educational environment and use modern technology to remove barriers for students with diverse needs.
