UCSD & NYU Research: AI Models Cognitive Biases in Decision-Making

A joint research team from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and New York University (NYU) published a paper on August 8, 2025, that opens new horizons in cognitive science. The scientists used large language models (LLMs) to simulate and analyze human decision-making processes. The study demonstrated that AI models can not only imitate logical conclusions but also reproduce typical human cognitive biases and heuristics. This allows AI to be used as a "digital model" of the human mind to conduct large-scale virtual experiments that were previously impossible. This approach could dramatically accelerate the study of complex aspects of psychology, behavioral economics, and neuroscience.
