While the US bet on closed, proprietary systems (OpenAI, Anthropic), Beijing took the path of decentralization. The recently released Chinese Government Work Report 2026 explicitly mandates state support for open AI communities. The result is evident: ecosystems like OpenClaw are not only rapidly evolving through the efforts of hundreds of thousands of independent contributors, but they are also securing China's leadership in the Embodied AI (robotics) sector. Open source has proven to be the ideal weapon for bypassing technological sanctions, and Washington is now urgently reviewing its national AI strategy.
