AGI State Audit: Google, Microsoft, and xAI to Grant US Early Access to New Models

National security is becoming the primary filter for AI releases. On May 7, 2026, the US Department of Commerce (via the CAISI center) confirmed an agreement with Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and xAI to provide early access to their future frontier models.

This is a major milestone in AI Governance. Models will now undergo pre-deployment evaluation by government experts. The goal is to identify risks in cybersecurity, biological weaponry, and systemic destabilization before the algorithms reach the public. The industry has definitively transitioned from a phase of free startup creativity to one of strict state control, where powerful LLMs are equated with dual-use technologies.
