WeRide and Uber: 1200 Robotaxis in the Middle East

On February 6, 2026, WeRide and Uber announced the deployment of a fleet of 1,200 robotaxis in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh. This is the largest commercial expansion of autonomous transport in the MENA region.

While the West is cautious with regulations, the Middle East is becoming a testing ground for driverless cars. The partnership with Uber gives WeRide access to millions of passengers, turning the technology from a curiosity into everyday transport.
