Kira Systems (now part of Litera) is a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) powered software for contract analysis and document review. Founded in 2011, the company specializes in applying patented machine learning (ML) technologies to automatically identify, extract, and analyze key provisions, terms, and data points from legal and corporate documents, primarily contracts. The Kira platform is trained on vast datasets of legal documents and comes with hundreds of pre-built models for recognizing standard clauses. Users can also train their own custom models for specific document types or unique terms. The use of AI significantly reduces the time spent on manual review of large volumes of documents, increases the accuracy of data extraction, and mitigates risks associated with human error. Kira Systems was acquired by Litera in August 2021, and its capabilities are now complemented by Litera solutions, including generative AI features for summarizing extracted data.
