Infrastructure Alliance: Google and Blackstone Create $5B Cloud JV
The attack on NVIDIA's monopoly is gaining serious financial weight. On May 19, 2026, investment giant Blackstone and Google announced the creation of a joint venture (JV) to deploy cloud infrastructure based on Tensor Processing Units (TPUs).

Blackstone is investing an initial $5 billion to secure 500 MW of capacity by 2027. This maneuver highlights a macroeconomic reality: AI infrastructure has become so capital-intensive that even hyperscalers require the resources of the world's largest alternative investment funds. Spinning off TPU computing power into a separate compute-as-a-service enterprise is a pragmatic attempt to poach B2B clients from NVIDIA by offering them alternative "silicon" and guarantees of a stable power supply amidst a total global data center shortage.
